Bio

Like Munakata and Sekino, Amano hails from Aomori prefecture in northern Japan. Self-taught as an artist, he burst onto the scene during the mid 1950s, exhibiting with the Japan Print Association, the Tokyo International Print Biennale, and in overseas venues. He is represented in the Museum's collection by ten prints dating from 1954-1975 that document his evolution from figural studies to pure abstraction.
