Bio

A native of Yamaguchi prefecture in western Japan, Fujikasa received both her BFA and MFA from Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2007, her MFA graduation work, titled "Ceramic Stream" 陶のストリーム, was exhibited at the INAX Gallery in Tokyo. The following year, she had work selected for exhibition at the 8th International Ceramics Mino exhibition and the 7th Mashiko Ceramics Exhibition; and in 20009, she was included in the prestigious 3rd Kikuchi Biennale. Since then, she has continued to win awards and international acclaim. In addition to the Portland Art Museum, her ceramic sculptures are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Cincinnati Art Museum; Harn Museum, University of Florida; Minneapolis Institute of Art; and the Chazen Museum, University of Wisconsin, Madison; as well as the Yamaguchji Prefecture Hagi Art Museum; Ibaraki Ceramics Museum, and the INAX World Tile Museum.
