Bio

A professor at the prestigious China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Zhao is one of the most prominent printmakers working in China today. Like many of his contemporaries, he was inspired by Lu Xun’s use of black-and-white woodblock prints as a medium for political themes, and much of his early work was in that mode.
